Nicole Harlan

Nicole Harlan, a native of Northern California, received her advanced training and scholarships from the San Francisco Ballet School and Boston Ballet. She received the Natalie Lauterstein Miller award for excellence while at San Francisco ballet school. She was also a recipient of the Danskin scholarship for the School of American Ballet. Nicole has performed with the San Francisco Ballet where she danced repertoire including Swan Lake, La Fille Ma Garde, Stars and Stripes, Four Temperaments, and Sons of Horus. She then performed with Ballet Metropolitan and Cincinnati Ballet, where she danced featured roles in ballets such as the Nutcracker, Ben Stevenson’s Cinderella, John Cranko’s Taming of the Shrew, and Andre Prokovsky’s Love Songs. With the Los Angeles Classical Ballet, Nicole performed as Helena in a Midsummer Night’s Dream at the Ford Amphitheater and as the Dewdrop Fairy in the Nutcracker at the Shrine Auditorium. Under the direction of Placido Domingo, she played the role of Clo Clo in the Los Angeles Opera’s production of The Merry Widow and Orfeo’s Guide in Orfeo ed Euridice. She was faculty on LADF. She teaches internationally and currently teaches at the EDGE Performing Arts Center in Los Angeles. Her students have gone on to train, or be accepted, at San Francisco Ballet, ABT, Boston Ballet, Houston Ballet, Juliard, Suny Purchase, to name a few. She is also the proud mother of three wonderful children.

Courtney Schwartz

Courtney Schwartz started dancing at the age of 2 in Pittsburgh,PA and has been teaching for 5 years. She moved to Los Angeles in 2012 to pursue her professional dancing career. Since then she has worked with many people such as Talia Favia, Mandy Moore, Dee Caspary, Andrew Winghart, Chaz Buzan, Dough Johnson, Danny Teeson, and many more. Courtney is currently Talia Favia's assistant, a demonstrator on Radix Dance Convention, and the female lead in Talia Favia's show "The Difference Between Actions and Words". She played Samantha on Disney Channel's Girl Meets World, has assisted Talia Favia on SYTYCD season 12 & SYTYCD Vietnam season 3, assisted Dee Caspary on SYTYCD season 10 & 12, been a part of Odyssey Dance Theatre in Utah, and danced at the El Capitan Theatre in Hollywood.

Bobby Amamizu

Bobby Amamizu is a graduate from Orange County High School of the Arts and holds a BFA in Dance Performance from UC Irvine, where he performed classical rep, Balanchine, and Forsythe. Currently he is represented by Movement Talent Agency in Los Angeles as a professional dancer. He has been an assistant to many choreographers including: Monie Adamson, Laurie Johnson, Cory Finn, Tina D’Amato, Joe Loera, Jodie Gates, Tokyo Inouye, Jackie Sleight, and Bonnie Story. Stage credits: Cirque du Soleil’s Viva Elvis (original cast), Industry Dance Awards, Tokyo the Company, Unity LA, Loving The Silent Tears (original musical), International Ballet Festival of Miami, Laguna Dance Festival, National Choreographers Initiative. Film: Fame, A Very Harold and Kumar Christmas, Dear Dumb Diary. Television: Dancing with the Stars, Miss Universe, Strictly Come Dancing, Fiona Apple music video “Paper Bag,” Jerry Lewis Telethon. Industrials: L’Oreal, Mattel, and Morinda. Competitions and awards: William Gillespie Ballet Scholarship, winner of Tomorrow’s Stars at OCPAC, YAGP (2007 gold medal contemporary category, 2008 silver medal contemporary category, 2008 bronze medal classical category.) He has also judged and taught at conventions/companies/Studios including: Cirque du Soleil, Edge Performing Art Center, The Houston Met (company guest ballet teacher), OCSA, Bay Area Houston Ballet and Theatre (Company Class), Tremaine Dance Conventions (guest faculty), LA Elite/Elite Dance Conventions (faculty), and West Coast dance Explosions (nationals). He also served as a rehearsal assistant to Jodie Gates to set an original ballet for Kansas City Ballet. He has worked with Vincent Paterson, Bonnie Story, Marguerite Derricks, Michael Rooney, Courtney Miller Jr., Donald McKayle, David Allan, Diane Diefenderfer, El Gabriel, Molly Lynch, Jodie Gates, Jim Kolb, Cindy Peca, Monie Adamson, Quincy Jacinto, Kelley Devine, Joe Tremaine, and Napoleon & Tabitha Dumo.

Russell Corpis

Originally from Los Angeles, Russell began his dance training during high school when he moved to the San Diego area. He began his training at a local studio, where he was introduced to some amazing people who brought Unity Dance Ensemble, director Tessandra Chavez, into his life. Dancing on the apprentice company, Unity 2, during high school, Russell was able to triple his training, with the company, school, and studios. After high school, Russell began dancing with Unity Dance Ensemble's main company in San Diego and began his teaching career. Russell was a company member of Unity Dance Ensemble for nine consecutive years.
Russell attended Hawaii Pacific University where he was on a full dance scholarship. In 2008, Russell was part of the dance team at HPU where they received their third national championship at the the NDA collegiate national championship. Russell trained with the California Ballet Company and taught at San Diego Dance Centre and studios in North County. Russell has performed with Odyssey Dance Theatre for their 2011-2012 season of shows. His most notable rolls are of Parris in "Romeo and Juliet" and the peasant pas de deux in Giselle. Other shows performed with ODT include Thriller and repertoire including new choreography by Mandy Moore. Russell has performed at the El Capitan Theatre for their Disney summer shows in 2014. Russell has appeared in several music videos with artists such as; Paula Abdul, Rosanna Pansino, Golden Hippie, Caught a Ghost, Maikel Blays, and December Rose where he was casted as the lead love interest to the artist. He has filmed "Step Up Revolution II" , a dance fitness DVD. He has also worked for MAC for their Alluring Aquatic line. Russell has performed in New York City for The Times of Israel Gala at the Waldorf Astoria. He has performed at the Bellagio Casino in Las Vegas for their NYE event. Russell has recently relocated to Las Vegas where he is performing in Cirque Du Soleil’s Beatles Love show at The Mirage. He is signed with Go 2 Talent Agency. His natural competitive nature helps him to grow and strive to be a better dancer and teacher everyday.

Mandy Dray

Mandy Dray grew up dancing in Kansas City, MO as a student of competitive dance in all styles which also included tumbling and gymnastics. In 2014 she graduated with a BFA in Dance Performance and a minor in Psychology from Chapman University. She toured as a dancer and ambassador to Chapman Universities touring ensemble directed by Alicia Guy. She has had the opportunity to work with Debbie Allen in the L.A. Tap Festival and currently performs in a professional show choreographed by Tiger Martina in Las Vegas, NV. She has taught and coached many students in the California and Las Vegas areas. She loves pushing and inspiring kids to be amazing dancers, well rounded artists and humble and respectful students. Mandy focuses on providing students with a strong technical foundation as well as a clear understanding of how the body can move with different artistic qualities. She is excited and grateful to be a part of our staff!

Katie O'Donovan

Katie has been dancing and tumbling for over 20 years. Her passion for the performing arts has led her around the world, dancing with Le Ombre, performing in countries such as Japan and Canada to name a few. Her acrobatics began with Gymnastics which eventually led to competitive Cheerleading. She cheered with California Allstars and GymTyme Allstars winning national titles with each team. Her hard work and accolades earned her a spot on the nationally acclaimed University of Louisville All-Girl team. In the years she cheered at Louisville, the team went on to win their 5th NCA collegiate title securing a 5-peat winning streak. Currently working in the entertainment industry, she enjoys taking time to teach the next generation her craft of dancing and acrobatics.

Keenan D. Washington

Keenan D. Washington was raised in Miami, FL, there he began his training with Traci Young-Byron and the Addiction Dance Company, now known as, Young Contemporary Dance Theater (YCDT). He later furthered his dance training at New World School of the Arts and then went on to receive his B.F.A from The University of the Arts in Philadelphia, PA. Keenan is also an alumni of The School at Jacob's Pillow (Commercial Dance Program) and Springboard Danse Montreal. He's a NAACP ACT-SO Local and Regional gold medalist and a National finalist in dance. He has showcased his talents on NBC’s Peter Pan Live!, The Voice, American Idol, Nickelodeon, MTV, and Lifetime. As well as, with names such as Nicki Minaj, P. Diddy, and Fifth Harmony just to name a few.

Amanda Welch

Amanda Welch was born and raised in Birmingham, Alabama where she started training in dance at the age of 3. About 4 years ago, Amanda made the move to Los Angeles to pursue her career in dance where she has trained under NiCo O'Connor, Ricky Lam, Sheryl Murakami, Nika Kljun, Kevin Maher, and Kennis Marquis, just to name a few. Amanda has had the opportunity to travel on tour with Todrick Hall, perform in Shanghai for a Honda car industrial, dance for our troops overseas in Amman, Jordan with Jessica Sutta, and was a featured actress in Nappytabs "NoHo Holiday Hooligan Show". Amanda has danced in multiple music videos including Maya Angelou's, "Harlem Hopscotch", Erik Karapetyan's, "I'll Do Anything", and Former Pussycat Doll, Jessica Sutta's, "Feline Resurrection", "Let It Be Love", "Get Lost", and more! Aside from dancing, Amanda has an extreme passion for the art of teaching dance! It's all about taking the knowledge you've been given & sharing it with future generations!

Aaron Czuprenski

Aaron was born and raised in Detroit Michigan where he began his dance training at the age of 7. He then moved to Los Angeles California to pursue his dance career after graduating high school in 2012. Since moving, Aaron has done various shows including Barbie Live International tour and Billy Elliot, as well as dancing for Paula Abdul and Kid Rock. This is Aaron's 2nd year dancing with Royal Flux dance company, and tours nationally assisting for Hollywood Connection dance convention!

Jordynn Otto

Jordynn Otto, a Seattle native, found her passion for dance at the young age of two years old. She grew up with extensive training in ballet, lyrical, jazz, pointe, strength/conditioning and hip-hop at Turning Pointe Dance Centre. During high school, Jordynn had the opportunity to nationally assist choreographers such as Stacey Tookey, Jason Parsons, Natalie Reid, and Lauren Adams, while also assisting dance conventions such as Jump, NYCDA, and Nuvo. With Jordynn’s determined work ethic and commitment to dance, she received a half-ride scholarship to Loyola Marymount University (LMU). While at LMU, her passion for studying dance technique and the hopes of pursuing a technical dance career in Los Angeles burned even brighter. She had to opportunity to perform concert dance work during her time at LMU by Ryan Heffington, Denise Leitner, Mike Esperanza, Shannon Mather, Sidra Bell and Lauren Adams. Jordynn graduated with honors with a B.A. in dance and a minor in business administration in 2014. Post college graduation, Jordynn has signed with Go 2 Talent Agency and works commercially in L.A. doing a myriad of dance jobs, truly showcasing her versatility and hard work. She has worked with musical artists such as Suboi and Sabrina Carpenter, performed in numerous shows across the city, and constantly works as a dance model. Jordynn loves performing live and collaborating with other artists; she cannot wait to see what her career in the city of Los Angeles can provide her!

Chris Babcock

Originally from San Jose, CA, Chris is trained in many styles of dance with a few including: Jazz, Contemporary, Modern, Tap and Ballet. He graduated Magna Cum Laude with a B.F.A in Dance Performance from Chapman University. After Graduating he was fortunate enough to travel and perform in Prague, Czech Republic. He is represented by one of the most prestigious talent agencies in Los Angeles; Mc Donald-Selznick and Associates (MSA). Chris was a featured dancer in the opening number for Intel's Keynote Speaker at the 2015 & 2016 International CES Convention in Las Vegas, NV. He had his television debut on season 6 of the Hit TV show GLEE as a member of Vocal Adrenaline. He is also a dancing avatar in the newly released video game: Just Dance Disney Party 2. Chris currently resides in Las Vegas, NV and has danced in Cirque du Soleil's production of "The Beatles LOVE" at the Mirage Hotel and Casino and is currently a performer in "Steve Wynn's Showstoppers" at the Wynn Hotel and Casino. He is an award-winning choreographer for his work on studios as well as high school dance teams across the nation.

Katina Childs Muller

Katina Childs-Muller Has been teaching dance for 24 years. Ms. Kat has performed in many musicals and some on her favorite roles include Consul in West Side Story, Cathy in Funny Girl w/ Stephanie Block & Matthew Ashford, and Zelda Zanders in Singing in the Rain w/ Kathleen Rose Perkins. This past summer she played Medda in the Musical Newsies. Kat has had a career as a choreographer for the last 19 years. She has choreographed 8 theme parks throughout the US and in Germany. She has choreographed shows for Carnival Cruise Lines and for the amazing Joss Whedon in the TV series Angel. Her choreography has been seen in numerous musicals. She was nominated for choreography awards in New York w/ NYCDA and lost to Sonya Tayeh & Travis Wall, but what an honor to be along side two of her favorites. In 2002 she was employed by Los Angeles School District to write the Jazz Dance Curriculum for their HS dance programs. Her favorite role to date is Mom to her four diverse and energetic kids. Ms. Kat won the TV show Your Chance to Dance (CMT) with her oldest dancer son Nick in 2010. Jenna Frechette

Originally from South Carolina, Jenna was always an athlete growing up. She found her love for dancing on the playground in the second grade where she watched her friends performing a clogging routine that they had prepared for their upcoming recital. That fall, she enrolled only in clogging and tap classes. Eventually with time this grew to gymnastics, ballet, jazz and modern. She moved to Connecticut at age 14 and was on her high school's dance team and her competition team in high school. After high school she went into college at the University of Connecticut competing in the D1 division for jazz, pom and hip-hop for UDA and NDA. In addition to this she performed at all the football and basketball games, halftime for the Celtics, football bowl games and received several awards during prelim season. She graduated college and continued teaching at her home studio in Connecticut, all while working in the medical field. After a few years she decided that she wanted to leave medicine and pursue dancing full time at the age of 24. Now 26, she is a LA resident signed with MSA agency and has appeared in music videos, commercials and live performances for artists such as Paula Abdul, Jhene Aiko, LIZ, Ari B, etc. She has studied under mentors Kenya Clay, Galen Hooks, Dana Foglia, Chucky Klapow, Robert Schultz and GiGi Torres, just to name a few. She has been assistant choreographer for artists such as Icona Pop, Carmen Electra, and Nicole Scherzinger and has also choreographed for LA Sparks. In her short time here she is happy with her accomplishments but truly hopes to expand her resume and continue her true passion of teaching, choreographing and mentoring younger dancers.

Jan Frishette

Jan Frishette, the Director of Studio 1 Dance Academy, began her career in dance working for Disney at the age of 14. She also danced commercially through high school and college. She received her degree from the University of California, Irvine, where she acquired a multitude of valuable teaching methods.

Jan was the ballet director at a prominent studio in Orange County for ten years before opening Studio 1 in the Santa Clarita Valley in 1990. In the summer of 2016, Jan moved her studio to a beautiful new state-of-the-art facility in Valencia, CA.

She is proud of her student’s remarkable accomplishments and awards from the most prestigious dance competitions. Many of her students have been honored with notable achievements including, college dance scholarships, appearances in music videos, commercials, and careers in dance in the US and internationally.

Jan has many years of experience directing and producing shows, coordinating with costume companies, developing classroom curriculum, and organizing dance teams. She understands the intricacies of each competition’s rules and how to place students in the correct level for competition. She hires exceptionally talented dance instructors, who work in the professional dance industry. Her vast knowledge and experience has enabled her to provide the best possible dance training program for the students of Studio 1 Dance Academy.

Joseph Chantry

Joe Chantry is from Frisco, TX where he began his dance training at age 7. In May 2014, he graduated with honors from Chapman University in Orange, CA with a Bachelor of Arts in Dance and minor in Peace Studies. He received accolades such as, “Excellence in Artistry” and “Outstanding Performance” from the university. Stage credits include: SoulEscape Dance Company (Justin Giles), Steve Wynn’s Showstoppers (Marguerite Derricks and Phil McKinley). Commercial credits include: Snapchat Inc. and AVON with Paula Abdul. Outside of his professional work, Joe has a passion for arts education and the transformative powers of dance/movement in youth development. As a teacher, he works to provide a safe and constructive environment for his students and focuses on versatility through various dance techniques and fostering individual artistic expression.
